Keeping the Truth (Literally) in Front of You
Author George Orwell wrote, “To see what’s in front of one’s nose requires a constant struggle.”
As a leader, with all the competing priorities and endless messages screaming for our attention every day, it’s crucial we have what is most important placed in front of our eyes - and I mean that in the most literal sense. I place physical, proximal reminders within my line of sight.
· An index card with an important quote or verse on it propped up next to my desk.
· A Post-it note listing my priorities placed to the side of the trackpad on my MacBook Pro.
· A wise quote or two scribbled on the whiteboard in my office.
· A piece of paper with a key question taped to the bathroom mirror.
What truth needs to be placed in front of your eyes frequently – maybe even daily?
And how will you keep it in front of you this week?
