A Simple Reminder: Leadership is About Service
I have the privilege of serving as leadership coach to Operators, senior directors and leaders in several Chick-fil-A restaurants. Being up close and personal, I assure you: it’s more than just chicken on a bun. I continue to be impressed with the quality of the Chick-fil-A culture. In 1967 Truett Cathy opened his first chicken restaurant. Now his grandson, Andrew, serves as CEO of what is now one of the largest family-owned businesses in the country.
One of the senior directors I coach shared in a recent call about the Chick-fil-A acronym SERVE:
See the future.
Embody the vision.
Reinvent.
Value both people and results.
Engage and equip others.
He stated that SERVE is True North on their leadership compass. I could write on each specific element of SERVE for the next five weeks because each one is deeply significant.
I know this is not new information; it’s just a simple reminder to us (me included): let’s look to serve others.
What part of the SERVE mentality do you need to implement in your leadership this week - and what’s the first step to you living that out?
